Hope Uzodinma, governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in last year election, has been sworn in as governor of Imo state.

Paschal Nnadi, chief judge of the state, administered the oath of office on Uzodinma exactly 24 hours after the supreme court declared him winner of the March 28 election.

The oath of office was first administered on Placid Njoku, Uzodinma’s deputy.

Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the APC, and Rochas Okorocha, a former governor of the state, witnessed the swearing in which took at the Heroes Square Arena, in Owerri, the state capital.

In the buildup to the election, Oshiomhole and Uzodinma were not in the same camp with Okorocha.

Okorocha had backed Uche Nwosu, his son-in-law, to replace him but Oshiomhole threw his weight behind Uzodinma.

In his last address as governor, Emeka Ihedioha, Uzodinma’s predecessor, had asked people of the state to cooperate with the new governor whom he said he expected to continue with his policies.

“It is my wish that he (Uzodinma) will continue on the path we had set for the rebuilding of our state as well as consolidate on the progress and milestones we achieved,” Ihedioha had said.
