Coronavirus: Kwara To Close Schools On Monday

The Kwara state government has announced that schools will be closed across the state from March 23rd as part of efforts to contain the spread of deadly coronavirus pandemic.

This was made known in a statement made available to the press by the Chief Press Secretary to the state governor, Rafiu Ajakaye.

“I can confirm that Kwara State will be shutting down schools from Monday March 23rd. It is part of the efforts to contain the global spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We urge our people to maintain the highest level of hygiene and to remain calm and adhere to all safety measures earlier announced by the Kwara State Ministry of Health and other national bodies,” the statement reads.

The development came barely 24hours after nine governors in the North West region of Nigeria announced closure of all schools over the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus.

The closure which takes effect from March 23rd will reportedly last for 30 days, according to a communique read to journalists by Katsina state Governor, Aminu Masari.
