A non governmental organisation,  Campaign for Democratic and Community Rights (CDCR) has called on the Ogun state government, to address the menace of horrible and unmotorable roads in Ifo Local Government of the state which has now being compounded by heavy rainfall on a daily basis.

The group in a press statement issued and signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Comrade Khadijat Usman, and Comrade Gbenga Bello called for the completion the 32-kilometre Sango/Akute/Ajuwon/Ojodu-Abiodun road through public works programme.

The group advised the government to adopt the use of "public works programme because of the enormous corruption associated with contract system".

"We call on the government to set up a well-funded public works department under workers democratic  management that will be responsible for road and project constriction under which workers and youth will be employed on a permanent basis".

"This pro-people arrangement will drastically reduce the cost of construction, it will enable the construction of more roads and projects and it will eliminate corrupt practises".

"The CDCR challenge the working people and youth of the Ifo Local Government to organise themselves and begin to embark on mass actions like petition, signature campaign, rallies and peaceful protests to call the attention of the Ogun state government to the area."

"Mass struggle is the only way to ensure that our communities are no longer neglected".

"The deplorable condition of roads in the Ifo LGA has made the residents and the commuters walk through flood to and fro virtually every day as they go about looking for their means of survival".

"The abandoned construction of the 32-kilometre Sango/Akute/ Ajuwon/Ojodu-Abiodun road began by past administration of Ibikunle Amosun has further worsened the state of roads in the area".

"We demand that governor Dapo Abiodun APC-led government should fix all those roads as he promised during his electioneering campaign".

"We equally demand that new drainage system roads should be constructed so as to channel flood water".

"The CDCR is a campaign platform formed by the Socialist Party of Nigeria (SPN), community people, youth, activist and socialists who are tired of the neglect of our community and wants to build a active mass movement to begin to fight for the rights of our communities".

"We urge all those who are equally tired of the absence of public infrastructures in our communities to join us in the CDCR so that together we can begin to take action".
