It was a day of glory as Dr Babatunde Diya, son of former number two man in Nigeria, General Oladipo Diya launched his foundation, named Tunde Diya foundation in Odogbolu town, Odogbolu local government area of the State.


The event which took place at Oladipo Diya Library and Resource center, Odogbolu, Ogun state saw eminent personalities witnessing the occasion.

With strict compliance with rules to curb spread of covid-19, the epoch making event attracted the creme de la creme of the society. It drew the attention and presence of the traditional rulers, the intelligentsia, Community builders  and leaders of thoughts.

The brain behind this lofty idea Babatunde Diya, a young dashing, handsome and versatile medical doctor, who had decided to take the bull by the horn and make life better for the weak, needy, poor and physically challenged members of the society through the Dr Tunde Diya Foundation.

The official launch of the Foundation which is set to be run through "The Yellow Initiative" was set to have His Excellency, Gen Oladipo Diya GCON, MNI as the Chairman of the occasion, with Hon. Femi Onakoya, Transition Chairman of Odogbolu Local Government, the Chief Host.

Kabiyesi Alaye of Odogbolu, Oba Onagoruwa, Elesi 1, led other dignitaries including  Prof and Prof Mrs Atinmo; Hon. Atinuke Bello, Prof and Prof Mrs Oyinkansola Cole; High Chief Adegboyega Ogunnaike; Captain and Mrs Sunny Adegbuyi to mention but a few.

Although, social distance protocols was duely observed, that would not however rub the event of its glitz, glamour and  carnival-live atmosphere.

It was a celebration of culture, scholarship, intellectualism and humanity.

The foundation, Yellow Initiative is an idea borne out of the beauty and the purity of the colour "Yellow". 

It simply expresses a vivid imagination that becomes a reality that guarantees social, cultural, intellectual and economic sucess.


The strategic plan of Dr. Tunde Diya Foundation is to create a platform where like-mindedness builds a future that leaves us all holding our hands high up.

Among the objectives of the foundation are scholarships to less privileged children.

To relieve poverty amongst vulnerable children.

To organise seminars, activities and forums that will empower young people to realise their potential.

To empower the youth in vocational skills, entrepreneurship skills, agriculture and sport and entertainment 

To run parenting seminars and workshops that increase parents’ knowledge, skills, confidence and enjoyment of the parenting role.


SCOPE OF THE YELLOW INITIATIVE

The Yellow Initiative effectively covers the following key endeavors life: 


1.) HEALTHCARE

2.) EDUCATION

3.) SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

4.) AGRICULTURE

5.) INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT)

6.) SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT 


The aforementioned areas are the identified portals to power the drive to achieve the sustainable developmental goals which  "The Dr Tunde Diya Foundation" has strategically  keyed into.

From Ibefun to Imodi Imosan; Aiyepe to Ososa; Okun-Owa to Odogbolu and beyond, the ordinary people will feel the impact of "The Yellow Initiative" and bring to home the much needed change we seek.  

The founder, Dr Babatunde Diya is the Chairman and founder of the  "Dr Tunde Diya Foundation"  (DTDF) and The Yellow Initiative.

A thorough bred, the young Tunde began his primary education at Command Children School  Ikeja.Then Kings College Lagos from where he travelled abroad to Bruce College Dublin Ireland. From there, he moved to Medical University of Warsaw, Poland. He had since moved across Teaching Hospitals where he honed his medical skills.

Tunde's father, His Excellency, Gen. Oladipo Diya GCON, MNI is a highly reputed Statesman and former Chief of General Staff and de facto Military Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is the Asiwaju of Odogbolu; a foremost  philantropist and staunch advocate of Community Development.

A chip off the old block, the young Diya is obviously following the footsteps of his father and Model.

Dr Tunde has been actively involved in numerous philanthropic gestures; advocacy and Community development activities particularly in Odogbolu town and Odogbolu Local Givernment Area.

Some of these include but not limited to provision of free medical services, scholarship, Covid 19 Palliative Support, Igbekere Night events, Entertainment shows and Beauty Pagents.

As a Medical Doctor by profession, he has acquired vast experience in Infectious Diseases through his tutelage at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) and Ahmadu Bello University  Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria.

 He is also the co-founder of Multiple Technology start ups such as NVIVOPLAY & FUTURE TECH SOLUTIONS, experts in Healthcare, Security; Games Development; Animation; and  Extended Reality.

Right from his medical school days, his vision has always been to effect real change that will be beneficial to the young, the weak, the needy and humanity at large- using the power of modern medicine practice and philanthropy.

He is public spirited, large hearted and community minded. 

Considering his birth and background as the son of an Army General, he grew up in a disciplined and regimented family settings. Consequently, this has moulded  the young to appreciate citizenship, patriotism and love for Motherland Nigeria.

Dr. Diya is a firm believer and advocate of philanthropy and scholarship. 

He is often quoted saying "life is no life until common wealth is equitably distributed".

His political beliefs is anchored on providing for generations to come - Politics is a vehicle to attaining Statesmanship.

Babtunde wishes to be a statesman. According to him "Politicians think about the next election, while Statesmen think about the next generation. 

Dr Tunde Diya is happily married to Mrs Bisola Adesimbo Diya (nee Adegbuyi),  an Accountant and  Tax Consultant. The union is blessed with lovely children.
