Rotary Club of Abeokuta Donates Hand Washing Unit/Basin, Others To PHC

 Members of Rotary Club of Abeokuta, District 9110, led by the Open Opportunities President, Rotarian Olukayode Oladipo in Partnership with Professor Abayomi Oluwatosin Jiboku (AOJ) has donated Health Materials that includes delivery packs, buckets, blood pressure machines, face masks and soaps to Oke- ilewo Primary Health Care Centre, Opic Roundabout, Abeokuta.

While highlighting the numerous achievements of the Club and presenting some of the materials, a Past President and Past Assistant Governor of the Club who is currently the Permanent Secretary of Bureau of Lands and Survey Rotarian Olamilekan Lukan stated that the Donations was part of the Commitment of the Club's to the Ideals and Focus of Rotary International as a organisation that believes in the Execution of Selfless and Humanitarian Services. 

Capturing the history of it's Partnership and Commitment to the Project, the immediate Past District Deputy Secretary and Past President of the Club Rotarian Christopher Soetan stated that the journey began four years ago, precisely 2017 when a Need Assessment of the Health Centre was carried out which subsequently led to the Health centre being adopted as the Club Project and since then there had been several interventions in terms of Donation of Health related materials. 

While speaking the President of the Club for the year 2020/21 Rotarian Olukayode Oladipo, who is also a Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) of Rotary International appeals to the Management of the Hospital represented by Mrs Adekunle Seun, a Matron and the Health Centre Senior Pharmacist, Olufemi Ogunjere to ensure sustainability of the Partnership and judicious use of the materials as the Club shall be willing to provide more of the materials when called upon.

Responding on Behalf of the Management and Government, Pharm. Olufemi Ogunjere appreciated the Club and Praise Rotary for their Passionate Commitment in their Service to Humanity as he enjoined other Non Governmental Organisations to emulate the giant's strides of Rotary Clubs in Various Communities. 

Subsequently, members of the Club moved to the Palace of Oba Olufemi Adewunmi Ogunleye, the Towulade of Akinale, located within a suburb Community in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State where Personal Protection materials such as Face masks were donated to the Community.

 It is on record that about 10 years ago Rotary Club of Abeokuta adopted Akinale Community as it's primary focus area for developmental projects where the Club had provided Boreholes, Improved school facilities, micro credit schemes, immunisation and vaccination of children and many more for the dwellers.

While attesting to the many impact of RC of Abeokuta within his Community the Royal father appreciated the entire members for their immense contribution to the development of the community year in and out.

On the entourage of the Club led by the 2020/21 President Rotarian Olukayode Oladipo(PHF)are Rot. (Prof.) Akin Akinlabi, Assistant District Governor and Chairman Project Service, Rot (Hon.) Motunrayo Adeleye -Oladapo, Special Adviser on Women Affairs to the Ogun State Governor and many other Distinguished members of the Club. 

Rotary is an organisation of professionals, who, as volunteers, are committed to the Service of humanity, and, therefore use their knowledge of needs assessment, project implementation,monitoring, evaluation and closeness to the communities for their benefits.

All over the world Rotary Clubs serve their communities each with unique concerns and needs. Rotarians have continually adapted and improved the way they respond to those needs in Countless ways this Project is one of the ways and means Rotary employ in addressing economic and community needs locally and internationally.
