Ogun Govt Says Zonal Secretary Position will be for officers on GL16

In a  bid to enhance monitoring and administration of secondary schools across the State, the  Teaching Service Commission ( TESCOM) has said that the position of Zonal Secretary, will now be for officers in Grade Level 16 and above, contrary to what was obtainable in the past, having officers lower than the recent approved level.
The Permanent Secretary, TESCOM, Mr. Johnson Odeyemi revealed this at the induction ceremony of a Vice Principal, elevated to the position of a Zonal Secretary, at the Commission's Conference room in Oke- Mosan, Abeokuta.

Odeyemi stated that the restrictions was in compliance to the directive and  approval of the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, that promotion to the position of Principalship and Zonal Secretary must be in accordance with, date of first appointment,resumption, last promotion eligibility and merit, to determine the officers substansive post for grade level 16.

“Unlike what was obtainable some years back, when grade level 15 will be supervising the activities of grade level 16 and above. From now on, this will no longer be tolerated, has the directive of Governor stipulated that the position of Principalship and Zonal Secretary should be determined by officers substansive post for grade level 16 in consideration for date of first appointment,resumption date, last promotion eligibility and merit”, he said.

The Permanent Secretary said that the post of Zonal Secretary must be accorded with honour and respect it deserved, saying it was imperative for them to have the required experience, having been Vice Principal before attaining the post o Zonal Secretary.

He admonished the new inductee to be a good custodian of the schools under his purview, “Be a peace maker with all education stakeholders, and do not hesitate to seek advise from your senior Zonal Secretary colleagues, as this will help boost your administrative skill and must also be a good custodian of the schools under your supervision”, Odeyemi said

In his response the inductee, Dr. Titus Oyewusi assured that he would adhere strictly to the admonition made to him by the Commission, commending the State government for his education reform.
