Ogun SUBEB Chairman begins familiarisation tour/assessment of work on Primary school buildings

Executive Chairman of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Dr. Femi Majekodunmi is to embark on a tour of Primary Schools across the state for on-the spot assessment of works being carried out by the contractors.

The tour is to justify the huge financial investment on primary education in the state as basic foundation, in line with the educational agenda of the present administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun, to ensure quality service delivery in the sector.

In a release issued and signed by the Chairman, Dr. Majekodunmi affirms the commitment of the government to increase pupils enrolment in public primary schools by creating a more conducive learning and teaching environment and urges stakeholders to cooperate more and re-enact their commitment to move education forward in the state. 

The Chairman, particularly, recognizes the important role of the government and commends its promptness in the payment of counterpart funds to donor agencies while admonishing contractors to abide by the terms of their contracts and ensure that works on the primary school buildings are of the stipulated standards as provided for in the contract agreements, having been mobilized by the state government.

Works on buildings awarded by SUBEB are currently at different stages of completion in all the affected primary schools. New classroom blocks are constructed while there are cases of renovation and rehabilitation across the schools in the three senatorial districts of the state.

The SUBEB Chairman, Dr Femi Majekodunmi and his team, according to an itinerary, starts the tour with primary schools in Ogun West senatorial district at CAC Primary School 11, Oke-Ela and UAMC Primary School 11, Eleja Pahayi in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of the State. 

Also to be visited are Community Primary School. Idagba Ayetoro, in Yewa South Local Government Area.  

IPPC Primary School, Iwopin and St.Micheal Primary School, Ibiade in Ijebu East Local Government Area; Emmanuel Primary School, Italupe and Moslem Primary School, Etitale, Ijebu-Ode in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area; Wesley Primary School 11, Oko- Sagamu and L.G Primary School, Eriyo Igbaga in Sagamu Local Government; Obafemi Awolowo Primary School, Ikenne and A.U.D Primary School 11, Iperu in Ikenne Local Government Area. 

Other schools to be visited are Community Primary School, Morekete and United Primary School, Baagbon in Odeda local Government Area. Moshood Abiola Primary School, Sabo and Aglican Primary School, Isaga Orile in Abeokuta North Local Government Area as well as Saint James Anglican School, Idi Ape in Abeokuta South Local Government Area will also play host to the SUBEB team led by its Chairman, Dr. Mjekodunmi for the on the-spot assessment of works on school buildings.

The tour will put the SUBEB Board on a better stead on schools facilities in general, teaching and learning condition, sanitation, conveniences and punctuality among others to sustain the enviable leadership position of Ogun State, in education, not only in the Southwest but also in Nigeria.
