Oyo state governor Seyi Makinde, Friday, hinted that his government is already investigating the alleged high handedness of some personnel of the Oyo state arm of the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN) Amotekun corps.
The governor made this known in a Tweet in reaction to the bloody clash between some youths and personnel of Amotekun in Tapa Town, Wednesday, which left two people dead.
According to Makinde, “The issue will be addressed squarely in the interest of the security and wellbeing of residents of the state.

“One of the strategies we are using to check insecurity in the state is the recently introduced Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun). I am fully aware of the alleged high handedness by some members of the corps. We are investigating these issues to address them promptly,” he said.
The state governor added that, “The welfare and security of the good people of Oyo state remains our top priority. We will not sit back and watch any harassment or intimidation of members of the public or our security officers.”
While reassuring the residents that his administration was addressing security challenges in the state, the governor emphasized that Amotekun was introduced to check insecurity.
