Troops of the 2 Battalion of the Nigerian Army have killed no fewer than seven bandits in Ungwan Danko village within Birnin Gwari local government area of Kaduna State.

The bandits according to the Kaduna State Commissioner for internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, had earlier invaded the village and abducted four persons (one woman and three children) and attempted to retreat.

However, the troops mobilized to the location laid an ambush, and intercepted the bandits, cutting off their escape.

In the ensuing firefight, Aruwan said that several bandits were killed, while others escaped with bullet wounds.

He also disclosed that One AK47 rifle and some rounds of ammunition were recovered from the bandits.

The troops also rescued the four kidnap victims; Halisa Aliu, Idris Ilyasu, Amina Sahaibu, and Shaaban Aliu from the bandits.

With the escape of some of the injured bandits, the Commissioner advises residents of Birnin Gwari the general area to report anyone found seeking medical attention or with suspicious wounds to the nearest military and police formations, or reach the Kaduna State Security Operations room.
