Makinde, Kwankwaso preach peace at Shasha community in Oyo

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso have appealed for sustained peace at Shasha Market and Oyo State in general.

They made the call, Friday night, when Kwankwaso visited the burnt Shasha community in Akinyele Local Council of the state.

In company of the lawmaker representing Ibarapa Central /Ibarapa North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Muraina Ajibola and others, the former governor visited the market for an on-the-spot assessment before heading to palace of the Baale of Shasha, Akinade Ajani and also meeting with members of Arewa community at the residence of Sarkin Shasha, Alhaji Haruna Maiyasin-Kastina.

Kwankwaso urged members of Arewa community in the area to be law-abiding.

Makinde, who was represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, appealed for peace in the community.

The Baale of Shasha, said Yoruba and Hausa had been enjoying a good relationship.

He said: “Government should come to our aid. It should restore hope and rebuild the market. We are not sending people away. There is no more fight. Government should arrest anyone fighting.”
