Ogun NUJ denies invasion of its Secretariat by hoodlums, vows to deal with fake news peddlers

The Nigeria Union of Journalists Ogun state Council has reacted to a fake news been spread by some online bloggers that thugs invaded its Iwe-Iroyin Secretariat located at Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta on Monday.

In a statement signed by the Secretary of the Union in the State, Comrade Ayokunle Ewuoso and copy of which was sent to our Correspondent, the Union described the fake news as false calling on the general public to disregard the information.

"It is unfortunate that journalism profession is being threatened by the activities of these fake news peddlers, but as a Union, we will not relent in collaborating with relevant authorities in weeding out bad elements from the profession.

" The NUJ in Ogun state has remain calm and peaceful since the February 24th,2021 ruling of the National Industrial Court sitting in Ibadan, the Soji Amosu led executive members have taken over peaceful without any hiccups.

The NUJ is now one in the State and every issue that threatened to divide us has been put aside by all groups", the statement added.

Comrade Ewuoso therefore urged all members of the Union and the general public to disregard the unfounded fake news.
