Court summons Ogun Councilor-elect, two others over allegation of substitution of name

By Our Correspondent

Ogun State High Court sitting in Sagamu has summoned the Councillor-elect for Ward 3, Iperu Remo in Ikenne local government, Hon Lekan Osinowo to appear before it on Monday, August 2, 2021 in a case of allegation of substitution of names filed against him by one Olaleye Olalekan Babatunde.

Also sued alongside Hon Lekan Osinowo are the All Progressives Congress (APC) Ogun State as well as Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC)

Mr  Olaleye Olalekan Babatunde of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had in the suit marked HCS/292/2021 claimed to have won the councillorship primaries of Ward 3, Iperu Remo held on May 18, 2021 but was allegedly substituted for one Hon Lekan Osinowo and is therefore urging the court to help reverse  this unconstitutional act.

He had among other demands pleaded with the court to help retrieve the mandate given to him by the Ward 3, Iperu APC members as the standard bearer of the party in the local government elections held last Saturday in the state.

Olaleye Olalekan Babatunde had joined Hon Lekan Osinowo, the ruling party in the state, APC as well as OGSIEC as defendants.

In the notice of hearing dated July 29, 2021, a copy of which was sighted by our Correspondent, the court said that the matter would come up for hearing on Monday, August 2, 2021 and has therefore directed all the parties in the suit to be present in the court on the said date.
